This is a view through Mesa Arch in Canyonlands National Monument near Moab, UT. I arrived there at about 8:30 am just as the sun was lighting up the red sandstone wall below the arch, the wonderful glow on the arch is a result of this along with its eastward facing direction.
This is a view of Bryce Canyon from the rim. I loved the colors and bizarre shapes that are everywhere in this National Park. I could spend hours just looking and wondering about in this amazing place.
The Twin Falls, ID temple is framed nicely by the rough stone wall on one side and the tree on the other. Normally I would not allow a tree to just jut out of nowhere but here it just seems to work. All of this is in contrast to the smooth white and clean lines of the beautiful temple.
This is a photo of the beautiful temple known as the Jordan River Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is a very hard temple to capture, but here the stained glass windows match the color of the clouds in the setting sun giving it an almost transparent look.
This is the pier at Cocoa Beach, FL. We were there several years ago but I was never happy with the results that I got from the HDR processing on this photo. I tried it again with a newer version of my tonemapping software and then worked it over in Photoshop. The thing I like most about the shot is that it is basically a negative of most pier shots. The pier normally forms the leading line with the water on each side. Here the water is the leading line and the pier forms the setting.
Cecret Lake has long been one of my favorite subjects. It is a little tiny lake in Albion Basin, UT but has so many faces that I never get tired of going there.
I think this is one of my best aspen shots. I love the way the trail leads you into the photo at about the 1/3 point along with the slope of the mountain side. The aspen were just beginning to turn and had become a beautiful lime green. I applied an oil painting filter to this one to give it a bit of an abstract look.
