Peaceful Arches

These wonderful arches invite one to sit and enjoy the serenity of the Bountiful Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Many families wait anxiously here as their loved ones exit following a marriage ceremony in the beautiful temple. It is in temples like this that families are united for time and all eternity.

Bountiful UT Front Approach

This 12x12 photo of the Bountiful, UT temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a 5 shot HDR. The lines of the street seem to invite you to come and enjoy all of the blessings of this magnificent building.

Red Winged Blackbird

I have always had a fondness for Red Winged Blackbirds. They were very common in the area of Nebraska where we lived when I was young. This one was flitting back and forth between these cattails as I was on a walk with Judi. I set up the camera while Judi was getting in her walk. I shot it wide open in aperture mode to get the house and trees to blur into the background.

Approaching Bountiful

I was in Bountiful, UT on another photo shoot, on the way home I looked up the hill and there sat the beautiful Bountiful Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It just seemed to beckon to me so I drove up to it and decided to take a chance that I could get a clear shot of it. There were several weddings going on with the families waiting just outside. Patrons were coming and going but I was patient and it paid off well. This is a 5 shot HDR with a brand new lens and my Singh-ray color enhancing filter.

The Mantaray

About the only thing that will take me away from a car show is a photo shoot and when I can combine them I am enjoying the best of both worlds. This beauty is known as the Mantaray. It was built by Dean Jeffries and George Barris in 1963. When it hit the circuits I absolutely fill in love with it. I thought it was the most beautiful car I had ever seen, and I still think it is. I was quite excited to see it in person at a car show here in Salt Lake City.

Presbyterian Church Sanctuary

While in Stockton, CA we were visiting our daughter Monica. Across the street was a Presbyterian church, I went over to get a closer look and noticed a car in the parking lot, a gentleman was getting something out of it so I went over to talk to him. I asked if I could go inside of the church, he was very gracious to allow me to. I went into the sanctuary where I asked if I could take a few photos. He was quite willing. I made a large print of another shot I took and presented it to them the next day. They seemed quite surprised but appreciative. It was a nice experience. I really like the way the photo puts you in the pews and the lines lead your eye first to the cross representing the crucifixion of our Savior and then to the wonderful painting that speaks of His resurrection. It was a very peaceful and spiritual feeling.

Oakland Temple Fountain

This beautiful and very unique temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is located in Oakland, CA. My daughter Monica just gave us a precious little grandson, Bentley, so we went to see them in Stockton, CA. While there another daughter, Danelle, asked if I would get a photo of the Oakland temple as she had served her mission there. Judi and I went to Oakland so I could get the photo. It was a beautiful day with a near cloudless sky but the sun was in a really bad position, I just had to make the best of it, actually it came out quite nice. I am pleased and so is Danelle. This is 3 of the 5 shot HDR captures that I took of this scene. I had to set my tripod up on a planter and then extend it up even higher so I could get the angle I wanted. I could not see through the view finder so I just had to take the shots and then look to see the display and make adjustments, it took 15 shots to get what I wanted.
