Most of the time I just don't see things the same way others do. I think that is why I like HDR photography so much. LYLE

Oakland Temple Fountain
This beautiful and very unique temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is located in Oakland, CA. My daughter Monica just gave us a precious little grandson, Bentley, so we went to see them in Stockton, CA. While there another daughter, Danelle, asked if I would get a photo of the Oakland temple as she had served her mission there. Judi and I went to Oakland so I could get the photo. It was a beautiful day with a near cloudless sky but the sun was in a really bad position, I just had to make the best of it, actually it came out quite nice. I am pleased and so is Danelle. This is 3 of the 5 shot HDR captures that I took of this scene. I had to set my tripod up on a planter and then extend it up even higher so I could get the angle I wanted. I could not see through the view finder so I just had to take the shots and then look to see the display and make adjustments, it took 15 shots to get what I wanted.

Mt Timpanogos Temple
This beautiful temple is located in Lehi, UT and is known as the Mt Timpanogos Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We were in Orem, UT for a wedding and had about an hour to wait for the reception. I had my camera with me so I drove north to Lehi and stepped just inside the gates and hand held this 5 shot HDR of this very special building.

Idaho Falls with Thunderhead
I shot this with a Nikon D3s when I was traveling to Spokane, WA (that is about the only time I get to go through Idaho Falls). It is a 5 shot HDR and tonemapped in Photomatix. I am so impressed with that D3s but it is just too expensive.

Idaho Falls Temple at Sunrise
Judi and I went to Spokane, WA to see Damon during the Thanksgiving week holiday, we stayed in Idaho Falls on the way up. When I got up Wednesday morning it was still dark with the sun just starting to lighten the horizon. I grabbed my camera and ran for the bank of the river. The sun lit up the horizon so beautifully that it brought tears to my eyes and filled my heart with gratitude to the Lord for creating such beauty. LYLE

Tree of Life
This is one of my favorite HDR photos of the Salt Lake City Temple. Go to the Book of Mormon, 1 Nephi, chapter 8 and read Lehi's account of a dream he had about a tree of life then return and study this photo. It is all there, the river of water, rod of iron, strait and narrow path, tree of life and finally God's love for his children represented by His greatest gift to His children-the temple.
Tabernacle and Temple
This is the daytime version of the following HDR photo. The sidewalk gives a nice pathway to the viewer that brings your eye to the temple.
Tabernacle and Temple Night
The lights that are aimed at the Angel Moroni that stands atop the temple bath it in a wonderful golden glow. This lights of the tabernacle also offer a nice invitation to the viewer that all are welcome here.
SLC Temple in the Clouds
This rendition of the Salt Lake City Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints appears to be floating in the clouds with a fading vignette applied to this HDR capture.
SLC Temple B&W
After shooting this HDR and tonemapping it I was quite unhappy with the results. I took it into B&W and bumped up the red and intensity and clarity and it came out quite nice. I enjoy the way it towers above its setting.
SL Temple Aglow
As I look at this scene I get the feeling that there may be some kind of a heavenly meeting happening just beyond those trees, I can see the Celestial Light glowing on the temple.
Mother and Son
This rather tender moment between a mother and son in front of the Salt Lake City Temple depicts the kind of relationships that are fostered by the Church through the Holy Temples that are scattered across the world.

The Scroll
It appears that the sky is beginning to unroll as a giant scroll, as is prophesied to happen when the Savior returns to the earth to reign as it's king.
The Golden Door
There seems to be an open invitation to come inside, "come inside and be safe", that is extended by the golden hue of the door on the Draper, UT temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Against the Storm
The dark clouds in this photo of the Draper, UT temple give a feeling that the whole world can be dark and stormy but the temple stands true and strong against it.
Spring Morning
On Memorial Day 2011 it snowed in Bountiful, UT and left this scene for me to capture. At first I wasn't too sure that I wouldn't just come back another day to get the photo, but after processing it I really like the soft feel it gives it.
Bountiful Moroni
The Angel Moroni sits atop almost all the temples built by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This one is on the Bountiful, UT temple and can be viewed from this angle as you approach the front entry.
